Here are tips to help you find your match this summer:
Find the Perfect Piece of Land
There are so many lots to choose from in Thurston, Mason, and Pierce Counties. Consider first exactly what you’re looking for: lot size – do you want a large chunk of land with privacy or something smaller in the middle of the city? Do you want a waterfront piece of land and if so, what type? Lake? Sound? River? Once you consider the type of land, determine where you want the land to be. It’s important for you to consider school districts, and proximity to shopping, freeways, etc. This is where your realtor can step in and help you find your match and provide you with a list of available properties in your price point, area, and type.
Find the Perfect Builder
Many times your realtor will have recommendations on builders in the area and can help guide your decision making. Still, you need to decide if they are the right builder for you. Not all builders are the same. We recommend interviewing two to three different builders. Once you define your needs, ask for and check references, take into account warranty and service for each contractor, and tour other customer’s home. Look for quality in the workmanship, details and practices within the each house built. Also, figure out if your design idea matches well with their design experience.
Find the Perfect Floorplan
One of the big reasons it’s good to have a solid design match with your builder is because they will mostly likely have available floorplans for you to choose from. From there, you can implement your own personal touches and adapt the floor plans to highlight the views and landscape of your new property.
Get a Custom Construction Loan
Using a local bank, get matched up with a lender that will guide you through the loan approval process. Money is still cheap and now is the time to buy and build.
